Once a British editor who was working on a international publication asked me if we said, “Happy Christmas” to each other in Australia. I had to say no, we don’t. We say “Merry Christmas.” Happy Birthday, Happy New Year and Merry Christmas.
Reading everyone’s Christmas blogs, I’ve noticed lots of UK Happy [...]
I have missed out on mince pies. Everyone who has been eating all those yummy Christmas treats before Christmas seems to be ready to move on. I on the other hand would quite like to eat chocolate and mince pies and lollies.
I might have to make my own.
Well, we made it. I really did feel quite satisfied eating salad at BBQ’s by the 24th. I’m munching on some gingerbread house for breakfast, complete with icing and lollies. I felt a little guilty eating chocolate and turkey yesterday. It just didn’t seem right. The whole feasting thing [...]
Christ has come.
I ran out of time to organise the street party, but we had a bit of an impromptu one yesterday as everyone waited out on the street for Father Christmas to come on the CFA (volunteer fire brigade) truck. It was nice.

RECIPE INGREDIENTS
1 cup dried cannelini beans soaked overnight
3/4 cup dried chickpeas, soaked overnight

1/3 cup minced parsley

It’s an interesting thing fasting. I’ve noticed that I eat less now. Smaller meals and a lot less snacks. And without any thought out decision I’ve noticed I’ve stopped eating treats, like cakes and slices, even if they are vegan. It’s just a general saying no to my indulgences I guess. [...]
Chip sandwiches for dinner again.
I’ve had two sausages, both times when I was out for lunch and that’s all they had. There was also potato salad with egg and mayonnaise.
I’ve got a cupboard full of chickpeas, lentils and tomatoes and I can’t think of anything to cook.
