I had a sore wrist

I had a sore wrist for a month. I was having difficultly using it. I thought, “It’s sprained,” then “It’s arthritis,” then “It’s broken.” Now I haven’t thought about it for three whole days. Amazing how as soon as the pain goes, all is forgotten. Now that I think [...]

Anzac Day

Can anyone tell me why my Anzac biscuits don’t spread? Aren’t they supposed to spread all over the oven tray and be nice and flat? Mine are all fat.

Silence

“Intelligent silence is the mother of prayer, freedom from bondage, custodian of zeal, a guard on our thoughts, a watch on our enemies, a prison of mourning, a friend of tears, a sure recollection of death, a painter of punishment, a concern with judgment, servant of anguish, foe of license, a companion of stillness, the [...]

Green chai

Green tea chai today – not that good
and way too many country Kooka biscuits. One is sooo good. All buttery and jam filled, or cherry flavoured, hot pink and covered in chocolate. 4 is way too many. I feel a bit sick.

What does your coffee drinking habit say about you?

What does your coffee drinking habit say about you?
sipped slowly with friends?
grabbed on the way to somewhere else?
strong in the morning to wake you up?
Instant, brewed, grown in your backyard, fair trade?

My blog turns a corner

I had coffee today.
Actually it was a chai latte.
I’ve also discovered raspberry leaf tea. It’s good.
Think I’ll plant a raspberry bush so I can make my own.

Good Friday

Back from Good Friday service. 12 gospel readings that tell the story of Jesus’ betrayal and death. Last year it was just story washing over me. This year I was a bit more aware of the structure, 12 gospel readings, a candle lit each time one is read, and a chant or [...]

Anointing of the sick

Last nights service was the service of Anointing the Sick or Holy Unction.
In the Orthodox church sin is seen as a sickness and Jesus comes to bring medicine and healing.
Anointing with oil is for everyone, because to what ever degree everyone is sick physically, mentally, spiritually, or with the disease of sin. [...]
